OUR HISTORY

Doomis Custom Builders is a family owned and operated firm founded in 1973. Brothers Tom and Mike Doomis have made a name for themselves and their team as one of the premier custom construction and renovation firms in the Chicago suburbs – and in the past two decades in the Lake Geneva, WI Area.

With over 50 years of building experience, Doomis Custom Builders is known in the industry for attention to detail and emphasis on using quality products and materials. They wouldn't put anything in your home that they wouldn't put in their own home. When you cross the threshold of one of their custom projects, you can sense the pride in craftsmanship and personal dedication that built the Doomis reputation for over half-a-century.

After taking the reins from father and founder, Bob Doomis, brothers Tom and Mike Doomis have worked together to grow this family business into what it is and what it represents today - and the torch continues passage to the third generation of leadership. Sons of Tom and Mike respectively, fellow partners Jon and Paul Doomis serve in active roles of the business. They pledge an enduring loyalty to the values that made the Doomis organization what it is today while adopting new technologies, systems and methods to ensure precision, transparency, and the expedient execution of projects in today’s modern world with its unique and varied products.

Mike, Tom and Jon all have extensive experience as carpenters while Paul is an experienced engineer. The four, as a team, oversee every aspect of the design/build process. They treat their clients' homes as if they are building a home for their own family. The Doomis Team has not lost sight of what has made them a leader in the custom home and renovation industry. "We believe in quality. It is so true that, especially in the building industry, you get what you pay for. To us, craftsmanship is an art. The home or remodel we complete represents the dreams of the people who live there. It's our job to make sure those dreams become an enjoyable reality. TOM DOOMIS

Tom is involved in every aspect of the business from sales and marketing to daily operations and project management. Having founded the company with their father Bob, Tom's unparalleled experience serves as solid foundation for the company. Tom has extensive carpentry and project management skills along with project experience of all types. He has two grown sons and enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren.

MIKE DOOMIS

Since 1980

Mike is involved in every aspect of the business from project management and daily operations to his main focus on sales and marketing. Mike has extensive experience in a variety of project types and is heavily involved in multiple business and community networking groups. He has 3 grown children and enjoys spending time with his wife and family.

JON DOOMIS

Project Manager

Since 1998

Jon has worked for Doomis Custom Builders for over 20 years. He started as a laborer, worked to carpentry and now currently serves the role as Project Manager. Jon has a true passion for carpentry and prides himself in the skill. He is married and has three children. When not working, he enjoys playing hockey and going camping with his family.

PAUL DOOMIS

Project Manager

Since 2023

Paul serves the organization in an administrative, financial, sales, and project management capacity. With a background in engineering, Paul is able to leverage his data analysis and systems optimization background to enable the company to strive for continuously improving the design and building process for clients to ensure accuracy, expedience, and most importantly, a positive experience for our clients. In his free time, Paul enjoys fitness and spending time with family and friends.

Colin Gretz

Carpenter

Since 2022

Right out of high school Colin began working to further his experience in all aspects of the trades. After some time Colin soon realized his true passion was carpentry and that's what he truly wanted to pursue. Colin joined our team as a carpenter in 2022. One of Colin's favorite things about carpentry and custom builds are the different challenges it brings, the ability to work with your hands and seeing peoples dreams come to reality at completion. In his free time Colin enjoys time with his friends and family and also spending some time on the golf course.

Seth Smith

Carpenter

Since 2022

Seth has been with the Doomis organization since 2022, contributing with a wide array of skillsets from trim carpentry to siding to everything else in between. One of Seth’s favorite parts of the job are tackling challenges in a creative and timely fashion. In his free time, Seth enjoys golf and gaming.

RON HALICKE

Maintenance

Since 2010

Ron provides experienced troubleshooting skills as well as project maintenance and serves as facilitator for all Doomis Custom Builders projects. He has a meticulous eye for detail and is an integral part of project closeouts. Ron enjoys exercise and spending time with his wife and two sons.
