OUR HISTORY

Doomis Custom Builders is a family owned and operated firm founded in 1973. Brothers Tom and Mike Doomis have made a name for themselves and their team as one of the premier custom construction and renovation firms in the Chicago suburbs.

With over 50 years of building experience, Doomis Custom Builders is known in the industry for attention to detail and its emphasis on using quality products and materials. They wouldn't use anything in your home that they wouldn't put in their own. When you cross the threshold of one of their projects, you sense the pride in craftsmanship and personal dedication that has built the Doomis reputation for over half-a-century.

Brothers Tom and Mike Doomis have worked together to grow this family business. Both of them have extensive experience as carpenters and oversee every aspect of the design/build process. They treat their clients' homes as if they are building for their own family. Mike and Tom have not lost sight of what has made them a leader in the custom home and renovation industry. "We believe in quality. It is so true that, especially in the building industry, you get what you pay for. To us, craftsmanship is an art. The home or remodel we complete represents the dreams of the people who live there. It's our job to make sure those dreams become an enjoyable reality. TOM DOOMIS

Partner

Since 1973

Tom is involved in every aspect of the business from sales and marketing to daily operations and project management. Having founded the company with their father Bob, Tom's unparalleled experience serves as solid foundation for the company. Tom has extensive carpentry and project management skills along with project experience of all types. He has two grown sons and enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren.

MIKE DOOMIS

Partner

Since 1980

Mike is involved in every aspect of the business from project management and daily operations to his main focus on sales and marketing. Mike has extensive experience in a variety of project types and is heavily involved in multiple business and community networking groups. He has 3 grown children and enjoys spending time with his wife and family.

JON DOOMIS

Partner/ Project Manager

Since 1998

Jon has worked for Doomis Custom Builders for over 20 years. He started as a laborer, worked to carpentry and now currently serves the role as Project Manager. Jon has a true passion for carpentry and prides himself in the skill. He is married and has three children. When not working, he enjoys playing hockey and going camping with his family.

PAUL DOOMIS

Office/Project Manager

Since 2023

Paul serves as both an Office Manager and Project Manager at Doomis Custom Builders. He is the financial hub in every project with a focus on project accounting and money management for the business. With an engineering background Paul is articulate and has an eye for detail and is a great addition to the team. In his free time, Paul enjoys fitness and spending time with family and friends.

ALYSSA DOOMIS

Office Manager

Since 2023

Alyssa joined the team after her time as a Project Manager for a cabinet fabrication company in East-Central Wisconsin. Alyssa executes the day to day accounting operations. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with family and friends and all Chicago sports.

Colin Gretz

Carpenter

Since 2022

Right out of High School Colin began working to further his experience in all aspects of the trades. After some time Colin soon realized his true passion was carpentry and that's what he truly wanted to purse. Colin joined our team as a carpenter in 2022. One of Colin's favorite things about carpentry and custom builds is the different challenges it may bring, the ability to work with your hands and seeing peoples dreams come to reality at completion. In his free time Colin enjoys time with his friends and family and also spending some time on the Golf course.

MARK HAUSCHILD

Project Manager

Since 1993

Mark has worked with Doomis Custom Builders in every aspect of project facilitation. He currently works as a project manager and provides his skills as a master carpenter in all areas. He ensures project facilitation by encouraging communication and decision making while maintaining client satisfaction and overall a successful project.

JOHN BERTACCHI

Carpenter

Since 2006

John is an experienced carpenter for Doomis Custom Builders. He provides detail oriented craftsmanship with an understanding in client satisfaction. Rough framing, trim carpentry, siding, and cabinet installation are a small representation of his skills. When not on the jobsite, he enjoys camping, hunting and spending time with his family.

RON HALICKE

Maintenance

Since 2010

Ron provides experienced troubleshooting skills as well as project maintenance and serves as facilitator for all Doomis Custom Builders projects. He has a meticulous eye for detail and is an integral part of project closeouts. Ron enjoys exercise and spending time with his wife and two sons.
